The German word for thimble is very descriptive, Gudrun.
I love the way that the thimble gradually merges into the darkness. Dies the number on the base of the thimble indicate the size?

Great success with the challenge Gudrun, but then you always hit the mark with your images. Bravo !!! My mother had me darning socks when I was younger (many moons ago) but I haven't darned a sock for ages and haven't used a fingerhut since. :)

Many thanks, Paul! It was fun trying to get that tiny thimble in the frame, usually it lies forgotten at the bottom of the sewing box. I was glad we were able to use words in our own language, otherwise I'd have ended up with a fork;-)
