Das schnauft sie vor sich hin und will nur Dampf ablassen.

Vielen Dank, Reinhard! Da hatten wir riesiges Glück, wir sind im Regen abgefahren, aber beim Zwischenhalt war schon die Sonne da:-) Eine empfehlenswerte Bahnstrecke, die mitten durch einen landschaftlich schönen Nationalpark führt!

Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Das ist eine Museumsbahn, die von Freiwilligen so liebevoll poliert wird:-) Sie haben aber angestellte "richtige" Lokomotivführer etc...;-)

Großen Dank, Heidi! Das Foto war sehr gegenlichtig, da hat Lightroom/ Color Efex mitgeholfen, der GradND-Filter war sehr praktisch.
Ich bin auch kein Freak, aber Zug bin ich immer gerne gefahren und die Waggons hier waren genauso wie zu meinen Interrailer-Zeiten;-)

A splendid and very nostalgic photo, Gudrun. I used to love standing on the platform bridge in St.Andrews station (long gone) and smelling the smoke and hearing the loud whistle as the train slowly started its journey to Dundee.

Thank you so much, Amelia! It's a pity so many railway lines have closed down, they could be an alternative to car journeys. I often travel by train as I don't have a car but it's not as much fun as it used to be. The journey from Pickering to Whitby was lots of fun though:-)

Schönen Dank, Susanne! In Großbritannien gibt es so etliche Strecken mit Dampfloks, meist von Freiwilligen betrieben. Auch auf regulären Nebenstrecken sind oft noch schöne viktorianische Bahnhöfe erhalten. Früher gab es auch Wettbewerbe für den schönsten Blumenschmuck an einem Bahnhof so á la "unser Dorf soll schöner werden";-)

Besten Dank, Volker! Von Enthusiasten blankgewienert:-) Die Strecke (Normalspur) ist eine Erfolgsgeschichte, die Züge fahren regelmäßig und inzwischen auch auf von offiziellen Zügen befahrenen Abschnitten. Früher hörte die Dampfeisenbahn noch dort auf, wo sie auf die normale Strecke traf.

To catch the steam coming from underneath the train makes the picture extra beautiful Gudrun. I remember steam trains still regularly in service in the late 1960's. I loved it when the station filled with steam/smoke! :)

Thanks a lot, Doug! We were lucky that the morning rain let up and the sun came out, that made everything look fresh and clean. Here I just followed someone with a camera who got out of the train as soon as it had stopped, assuming he know the best place for photos- which he did:-)
