So ist es! Ist ja ein Schiffswrack, wenn auch heftig in Einzelteile zerlegt... Da wundert es, dass überhaupt welche überlebt haben! Merci vielmals, Udo!

Reading through the Investigation into the Epine, and knowing from your previous photo about the dangers of this part of Iceland, it's hard to believe that the blame could have been solely placed on the captain Gudrun. Apparently there was a gale force wind, and he gave his life jacket to another member of the crew.

I love the colour contrast between the rust and the lave pearls.

Thanks a lot, Amelia! Yes, I was also surprised they put all the blame on the captain...Looking at the wreck I am surprised that anybody survived! And just imagine 19th century Icelanders going out fishing in rowing boats.... Nowadays all fishing harbours are on the more sheltered northern side of the peninsula.

The only place I have seen black volcanic beaches is on the west coast of NZ, but there it was all fine sand...and in a climate where I felt most comfortable. That said, it is always good to see your northern beaches on screen ;-)

Many thanks, Neil! Yes, NZ climate is a bit more benign;-) In Iceland most beaches are black, only very few are pinkish shell beaches.

Ich wundere mich, dass nach fast 70 Jahren überhaupt noch etwas von dem Trawler übrig ist, Gudrun. Oder hat man die Reste präpariert, damit sie nicht weiter rosten?
Diese PiP-Technik finde ich faszinierend! Bevor IP die Schotten dicht macht, muss ich es doch auch einmal probieren.

Schönen Dank, Uli! Ach, die Metallteile halten schon lange, präpariert sind sie nicht. Der "Schrott" ist weit oben am Strand gelandet, wo er wohl kaum noch vom Wasser mitgenommen wird.
Das mit den PiPs ist einfach, teste es ruhig aus:-)

...werde ich am Wochenende mal probieren. Ich erinnere mich, dass Bonsai eine "Gebrauchsanweisung" geschrieben hat ;-).

Ja, die ist ganz ausführlich, da kann eigentlich nichts schiefgehen!

Yes I remember seeing these remains left as monuments and the tragic story of the Epine...
I like the contrast between the black sand and their copper-like colour . What I find incredible is the lcelandic light, which always allows you to make good pictures despite the awful weather.

Schönes Detail, auf diese Weise wird ein profaner gegenstand zu einem abstrakten Kunstwerk.
