The glow can get quite strong at times but usually you don't see much green with your eyes- it's just the camera that sees it;-)

Merci, poly! Ja klar, man wird eben anspruchsvoll! Am Anfang ist man begeistert, wenn man Spuren von Grün auf der Kamera entdeckt, aber nach ein paar Tagen muss es schon was Besseres sein;-) In den Norden fahren und nie was sehen ist massives Pech! Wir hatten 11 Übernachtungen in Norwegen und davon 7x Nordlicht! In Island waren es dagegen 7 ÜN und nur einmal was Grünes zwischen Wolken;-)

Herrlich. Möchte ich auch mal so erleben. Aus dem Flugzeug habe ich sie auch schon gesehen...über Grönland, kurz vor Weihnachten. Da ein brauchbares Foto hin zu kriegen, ist wohl kaum möglich. Aber das pure Anschauen war schon ein Erlebnis.

You can try to benefit from the lights (light pollution) next time. Try a small opening (f22 or a little bigger) The light turns into stars and becomes an enrichment....

That depends on the strength of the aurora. Use higher ISO and/or longer time and it could work. Look here:

That looks really good indeed! In this case here I probably could have stopped down to F/8-11 and exposed for 20-25 sec but would have got a very blurred aurora. I'm not sure about a higher ISO, 5000 is about the limit for decent photos with my camera.
