Río Futaleufú (PiP)

Río Futaleufú (PiP)
Río Futaleufú makes a big bend before draining into Lago Yelcho. The river in its changing course- probably caused by earthquakes- has drowned a lot of trees but vegetation is clawing its way back (see inset photos).

Hans van Dongen, Hervé S., Annemarie, Auggie W and 13 other people have particularly liked this photo

Nice to see the regrowth Gudrun. Lovely light on the leaves in the first PiP and the waterfalls in the background look impressive.

Thanks, Graham! Nature is mostly left to its own devices there - hope it stays that way!

Westliches Patagonien eben;-)

It does look a lovely area. While it may be unstable, nature does have a way of finding a new equilibrium.

Thanks a lot, George! It does indeed, only man isn't always included in the new equilibrium;-) The year after we were there, this area also suffered ashfall from Chaitén volcano.

Thank you, Isabelle! You're right, it could qualifiy for the dead marshes in LOTR! Only there's no infrastructure for film makers so the landscape will stay quiet:-)
