4 Bald Eagles, One Huge Nest and a Big Ol' Texas Sky
Approximately 5 miles east of Llano, Texas on Hwy 29, is the site of what are commonly referred to as the Llano Bald Eagles. Returning each year to nest since 2003, these two adults are pictured standing on a large branch off to the right of the nest (near the center of the photo), which presently holds two month-old chicks. Fast-moving clouds preceded a strong cold front, which is expected to bring ice and snow to the Texas Hill Country tonight.
