Jeff and Beryl

Jeff and Beryl
My mother's Aunt Daisy went to Canada after the war, with her new husband, an airman or a soldier, I forget which. She very soon came back to England with her son, Jeff. It hadn't worked out. My mother remembers being bathed in a tub in the kitchen when a man in uniform came looking for Daisy and his son, but my grandparents sent him packing. I don't know what happened to him then. Daisy eventually got a job as a housekeeper for a minister, where she could live in the house. My mother remembers playing with Jeff, since they were about the same age. When he grew up he became an engineer, and he loved motorbikes. Unfortunately, he had an accident and damaged his leg. You can see his orthopaedic boot. He met Beryl, who was a nurse, during his convalescence. Later he spent some time running workshops for the disabled, but he and Beryl divorced at some point. My mother liked Beryl, and they kept in touch.
