1935 Gibson Roy Smeck

1935 Gibson Roy Smeck
Taken from Bernie's website:
1935 Gibson Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe. I got this in my home town about ten years ago, it was owned by a man called George Herring. His family had a saddlery in the town when I was a kid. I never found out until after he had died that he was a guitar player and that he had bought this guitar in 1938 second hand from a guy in Northampton. An Hawaiian steel guitar with no frets - purely for steel playing and it sounds absolutely incredible. The guitar is still in the original case and has some 1943 strings to go with it! I hope that Mr Herring would approve of me now owning his treasured Gibson, apparently he used to watch me on Top of the Pops in the 1970's and enjoyed it.
Gibson guitars website:

Image taken on a Nikon 801s on Kodak negative film in the late 90's while they were being shot for a magazine article. Scanned on a Nikon Coolscan V (LS50). Very grainy shots, but this is probably more down to my lack of scanning skills rather than anything else. I may retry in the future.
