I was aware of the history but only now have I thought that Mr Walpole must have been a) incredibly wealthy from other resources or b) a far far more successful author than he is given credit for today! Maybe both or neither? Perhaps someone can enlighten me (or I just go staright to Wiki!)
A fine capture anyway!

Well I went deep into the Wiki pages and all very interesting but I will need to delve further and into Mr Walpole himdself to get answers! I knew the name Walpole both for this writer and for the first Prime Minister and often wondered if they were related. I suspect they were but haven't found any evidence.
Still digging!

Yes, very wealthy possibly from land owning and politics, and his Dad was prime minister Robert Walpole.
