Ah! but eateries are. In the '60s with both of us working as social workers in local government, we couldn't afford to eat out. We didn't even buy coffees. As a south Londoner, judging by your photos of Brixton & Camberwell, you must have seen Lordship Lane, which used to be an ordinary street, with a mixture of shops, turn into an almost continuous run of eating places.

Clapham Highstreet is now wall-to-wall bars and restaurants. Pavements packed with drunken twenty somethings most nights. Called the night-time economy. . . Expect I'm just jealous though.
