July2015 325 Sweetpea stems

July2015 325 Sweetpea stems

Years ago I went to oil painting classes. We had a very good teacher whose theme tune was, 'Forget the objects.' In other words, study the tones, shapes, light etc whilst not trying to paint the composition as a collection of objects. If you get the other things right the emerge in the picture naturally. As a result I think I got my eye in at seeing in that way & sometimes spotting a good composition without undue attention on the objects. When it comes to composition I don't think it much matters what you are photographing or painting as long as the picture is satisfying. I spotted this as a satisfying composition when the flowers were on our table at a meal time. So later I had to photograph it.

With thanks & wishing you all peace, joy & fulfillment.

Peter Van Der Houwen, FMW51, Rambonp, John Linton have particularly liked this photo

Nice capture, Monica. Wouldn't have thought to show the stems instead of the flowers.

it's when I'm eating a meal with them on the table that I happen to see an interesting view of them, Ron.

An original viewpoint. Lovely vase and tantalising glimpses of the sweet peas.
