Nov2013 079 Cyclamen persicum
I had this plant outside for part of the summer. As a result some of the flowers were pollinated and are now developing seeds. It takes a few months. This cool part of the year is a good time to sow them once ripe. They need to be sown fresh so when the seedpod begins to burst open collect seed. There may be about 16 in one pod. Soak them for 12 hours adding a drop of washing up liquid to the water to remove stickiness. Cover the seed with a thin layer of vermiculite or sharp sand and never let the soil dry out. They germinate at a temperature of 12-15 C in the dark so cover with newspaper or similar until they come through. In uk keep in greenhouse or on windowsill. Once germinated keep at a maximum temp of 15C. They will take 10 to 14 month for the plants to be ready to flower.

With thanks and best wishes to you all.
