Just after entering by the strongly lighted South entry porch, the very dark inside made me feel this cathedral quite lugubrious!!! After a moment, as in Chartres cathedral, the eyes adapt to the darkness and it becomes feeric! First inside view of North windows; France Lorraine Region Moselle Department Metz Capital Cathedral St Etienne.

Not sure Carol! When I entered in Chartres the first time, I felt to become blind....After a short moment, colorful windows at all levels of the great edifice enlighted my vision as fireworks and it became sublime as if I was suddenly projected in the space with stars of all colors as for space men!!!! They are clearing the Chartres catheral inside and on my opinion it is not a good idea!!!!
