Jacobs Ladder - Polemonium caeruleum

Jacobs Ladder - Polemonium caeruleum
Jacobs Ladder – Polemonium caeruleum – is so called because of its characteristically ladder like leaves sprouting from the base of the plant. It is an upright perennial wildflower which forms erect tufts but rarely colonizes the rocky slopes and open woodland it favours. The flowers cluster towards the top of the stems, each with five blue-violet petals forming a cup shape. Seen at Taylor Park, St Helens.
