Ramsons Flower - Allium ursinum

Ramsons Flower - Allium ursinum
Ramsons – Allium ursinum – is a bulbous perennial often mistaken for wild garlic because of it’s very strong scent of garlic when in full bloom. It is often found in springtime, carpeting woodlands in damp areas when the garlic smell can be very strong. It can grow up to 35cm high and the flower stems are leafless carrying clusters of up to 20 white flowers. This patch was seen near Carr Mill Dam, St Helens.
