Scanned from 2" x 2" slide, possibly Kodachrome, this one came out much better than normal!
Historic sign, would be surprised if it ended up in a museum. When this was taken, late 1960s, Route 66 was still in service, the Interstate was still being built, and Williams was the last town bypassed.

That "roadsidephotos" link seems pretty moribund. There don't appear to have been any updates since '04.

Have you seen Ken Burns' documentary "Horatio's Drive", about the guy who first drove across the country, in 1903 in a 1903 Winton? Recommended!

You're welcome. Another you might find interesting, if you haven't seen it, is George R. Stewart's book "US 40," which came out in 1953. It is interesting how thoroughly the car culture was established only 50 years after Horatio's drive! There was also a followup book in 1983 by Thomas & Geraldine Vale. You can find both in used editions on Amazon.
I figured there'd be a reference to these books in the US 40 section at that roadsidephotos site, but there wasn't, and that's when I noticed things there hadn't been updated in a while.
