... and the ugliest. The whole quarter in front of the Church was completely destroyed in september 1944. After 1945 there remained a large empty square later surrounded by this kind of horrible buildings which is now partially demolished.
On the right side of the photo is "De Waag" (weighhouse), rebuilt in 1959-1961. One of the few original buildings beside the Church. I have known it for many years as a fully burnt out building with big long soot streaks on the walls at the corners of the Windows.

It is a very strange construction, for sure, but, I would not say 'ugly' , it is interesting.
So sad for the old church...
