Red fox

Red fox
I spotted this fox in the distance, heading calmly along the hedgeline towards me. The only place for me to hide was behind a 5-bar gate and a dock plant. Fortunately, the wind was in my favour, so the fox couldn't smell me. Eventually, though, he or she twigged that there was something not quite right, and I had to decide whether to take my shots quickly, in case it ran away, or hold fire and hope it came closer. In the end I took the photos. Of course, the fox heard the shutter and ran off. Next time, perhaps I'll wait...

There is a similar setting on my camera, but there was a reason - which I can't remember - why I don't use it all the time, and it is buried somewhere in the menu - I can't remember where. I think there is a theme here. Early stages of Alzheimers perhaps?
