Agfa Karat 36 cocking lever repair

Agfa Karat 36 cocking lever repair
When this Agfa Karat 36 arrived, it was well and truly jammed! (Not just stiff with grease, although that was also the case).
Investigation showed that the drive shaft to the cocking rack&pinion was somewhat bent.

The shaft was straightened (under heat) and, as there were stress cracks at both sides, reinforced by soldering short pieces of copper wire on each side.

Reassembly revealed that that original cause was that the rack was fouling at the point where it should re-enter a slot in the body casting on the return stroke. Evidently a lot of force had been used to return the Wind Lever to it's rest position! So the rack end was chamfered on both sides.

Now on reassembly it works smoothly. The old green grease was of course cleaned off and replaced where applicable on the wind mechanism.
