Actually she is anything but scary - her face is so sweet and she was a kind and caring person who gained a sort of notoriety because of her famous naked ride through the streets of Coventry forced on her by her husband when she pleaded with him to lower the taxes which were crippling local people.

I know the yarn and it does sound like a bit of romantic BS.
Tongue in cheek I'll bet that she was on the local council!

I just KNOW that I an going to be punished for this.

The more modern interpretation of the story is that she rode "naked of her chains of office" - that is to say she rode as a private citizen in a show of solidarity with the heavily taxed locals.
The legend is the work of later scribes like Roger of Wendover and later writers.
