Iranian P-3F & USS Abraham Lincoln

Iranian P-3F & USS Abraham Lincoln
In 2012 this Iranian P-3F buzzed the USS Abraham Lincoln but was very careful not to point the aircraft nose directly at the ship (that would have been threatening) although I would have thought that getting this close would have been considered threatening.
This picture comes courtesy of the US Navy.
I picked up this interesting snippet from the site 'War is Boring' that I have recently found.

Mary Smith has particularly liked this photo

America is not mean with pictures of their ships so this effort by Iran would not garner them anything new I expect. They probably were trying also to 'hoover up' electronic intel as well and the US Navy would know how to foil that attempt. It was more a publicity stunt I would think and I bet that Orions crew gave one big sigh of relief when they got away with it. They were escorted away by aircraft from the carrier.
