British Armoured Train

British Armoured Train
Just found this interesting picture of this British armoured train in Palestine in 1930.
One must ask though what the two Arabs function was in this set up.......mine detectors perhaps?

My friend Jim was a paratrooper captain in Palestine after WW2 and was very nearly killed there. On one occasion he was looking at a map spread over the bonnet of a three tonner with his sergeant when a burst of machine gun fire tore through the map between them!
There are too much politics involved to speak here about what was going on but I got the impression that the Tommies were 'the meat in the sandwhich' between the Jewish settlers and the Arab people.
One again the politicians made a real 'pot mess' of things and a lot of people died because of it.
