Going through the bridge...
This is probably the best shot I have to illustrate how the bridge works. In the picture in the comments, you see it in normal position, but here it is open for the boat going through. The top arch is to the right, and the cycle and pedestrian crossings are to the left - where the railings are. The whole thing just rocks over on the points where the two arches meet.

The inside is for pedestrians, the outside for cycles. The cycle part is a sort of metal mesh grid stuff so you can see through it. There are benches down the centre.
