Funny little things...

Funny little things...
...growing in one of my hosta pots. The picture on the left was taken on 16th June, and the picture on the right was taken on 15th July. Over the month they have opened out flat and now seem to be pointing their little tendrils upwards. Each is around quarter of an inch in diameter, and about 1 to 1.5 inches tall. The pic on the right shows some flat, rounded dark green leaves which are growing across the soil surface in the pot. So, anyone know what they are? The hosta arrived from the garden centre last year with the flat leafy things already growing. The taller things grew this year.
