Wolfville, located on the Cornwallis River in the southwest corner of Minas Basin, once had a busy harbour, with ferries carrying passengers and vehicles to and from Parrsboro and Kingsport. The lighthouse was built on the government wharf on the west side of the harbour in 1902. A typical "pepper- pot" structure, 22 feet tall, it is reported to have been burned down in the early 1970s.
