Pumpkins On Display Slindon

Pumpkins On Display Slindon
The Shot

Today should be a suitable image for Halloween so I choose this shot of some Pumpkins. This was taken a few weeks ago at a well known Pumpkin Display in the local village of Slindon in West Sussex uk

Taken with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 Wide Angle Zoom at 10mm. Taken handheld with auto bracketing for HDR. 3 raw images 2EV spacing. Opened in Photoshop first and each image noise reduced with Noiseware Pro and saved as tiffs.

Photomatix

Outputted in Photomatix to detail enhancer. Click the Camera name top right for the Exif information and details of the settings used.

Photoshop

The 0EV original image was copied and pasted as a new layer with a black layer mask. A brush was then used to show the layer on the foreground Pumpkins to emphasise these as opposed to the HDR in the background

General adjustments in levels and curves to enhance.

Vibrance layer overall increase 64 points.

Noiseware Pro

Unsharp Mask a little sharpening low radius and higher amount.

Duplicate layer with mask to apply extra sharpening and contrast to the foreground pumpkins with low amount and high radius. I have found from the Internet that this technique was the basis of the Clarity Slide in Camera Raw. Used in Photoshop Unsharp Mask there is more control and it is easier to apply it selectively with a brush on a mask.
