Roman Baths and Bath Abbey

Roman Baths and Bath Abbey
The Shot

This is the Roman Baths with Bath Abbey in the background. Pictures can be taken but no tripods. I put my backpack on the edge of the pool and rested the camera on it while doing the 3 exposures using a wireless remote to avoid movement. There was steam coming up from the pool making the water a little soft.

I took the shot while staying with family in Bath over Christmas

The picture was taken with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 10mm. 3 raw images 2EV spacing. Opened in Photoshop first and each image noise reduced with Noiseware Pro and saved as tiffs.

Outputted in Photomatix to fusion adjustment. Click the Camera name top right for Exif details and the settings used.

General adjustments in levels and curves to enhance with layer masks to exclude highlights.

Vibrance layer increase 24 points

Brightness layer slight decrease.

Hue Saturation layer blues used with layer mask to decrease the blue in the sky for a more natural look to the clouds.

The -2 EV image was copied in as a new layer with a black layer mask and a brush used at varying opacities on highlight areas including the parts on the left and the Abbey Tower.

Noiseware Pro

Unsharp Mask a little sharpening.

Duplicate layer with mask to apply extra sharpening and contrast with low amount and high radius using Unsharp mask (Clarity Effect)
