London Gatwick Tunnel to the Sun

London Gatwick Tunnel to the Sun
The Shot

This is part of the London Gatwick, South Terminal new entrance area which is part of major improvement works. Tuesday 3rd January I was flying off to Lanzarote, a good day to get away. The UK had damaging storms with horizontal rain. I checked in with 2 hours to spare so went back to this entrance area for some pictures. For this shot I just had time to get 3 bracketed shots off before another gang of trolleys came up behind me

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 10 mm. ISO was set at 800 to get fast enough shutter speeds. 3 raw images 2EV spacing. Opened in Photoshop first and each image noise reduced with Noiseware Pro and saved as tiffs.

Outputted in Photomatix to detail enhancer. Click the Camera name top right for Exif details and the settings used.

General adjustments in levels and curves to enhance.

Vibrance layer increase 6 points

Noiseware Pro

Duplicate layer with mask to apply extra sharpening and contrast with low amount and high radius using Unsharp mask (Clarity Effect)

The 0EV image was brought back in with a layer mask and applied only to the ceiling which looked better in the original.

Filter, Lens correction, custom was used to correct verticals and also make a slight horizontal adjustment and then crop.
