Weren't there some of these towers near Sunnyside Yard? These would have met the PRR mainline right-of-way at Bay Ridge I believe.

This station was on the Port Washington line, the only line that skips Jamaica Sta. These lines eventually went into a pair of towers in Long Island City that fed into a power plant for the Long Island Railroad. These lines went through Sunnyside, but did not connect to the 11kv, 25hz Bay Ridge AC overhead system. Now the whole Bay Ridge freight line is gone and the LIRR runs off commercial utility power (Con Ed in NYC & LIPA on Long Island) using rectifiers.
