Spring thaw in the high country
Acrylic on acetate. As with a couple of previous paintings, this is painted back to front, you are looking through the acetate, so the foreground was laid down first and the gesso layer last, on top of everything else. Subsequently I have to wait for one layer to dry before painting on top of it.
If one has a distinct image in mind, this painting backwards isn't really any problem. The hardest part is, after applying the last layer of paint, waiting until it's dry before stripping the acetate off the easel and turning it over to see how the painting turned out!
I really like the effects I can get with this method and the way the colors pop!
