Biggin Hill for a quid
Once upon a time, I would buy railway negatives by post, on approval. Prices would be around 50p/75p each, although really interesting stuff would cost all of a pound. A far cry from the prices now fetching on eBay!!

Thus we have 'Battle of Britain' class pacific 21C157, later 34057, waiting for the off at Victoria with the Golden Arrow on 2 August 1947. The locomotive was just five months old at the time and would later be named 'Biggin Hill'; withdrawal would come just twenty years later, one of those never to be rebuilt.
