The old order

The old order
In the days when most local services were worked by either Eastern Counties or Premier Travel and the busway wasn't even a twinkle in the planner's eye, this is Cambridge in May 1971. Amid ECOC buses, Premier 144, a former Ribble Leyland PD2/East Lancs, arrives at Drummer Street, working in on route 1 from Royston. These former 'White Ladies', of which Premier had ten, were largely withdrawn in 1972, replaced by AEC Bridgemasters from the City of Oxford fleet. Note the Hillman Imp van and Austin Cambridge taxi!
