On Shed
Selection of traction on shed at Haverthwaite, in the Lake District. This is the preserved line to Lakeside Station, on the shores of Lake Windermere. What locos can you identify?
The Furness Railway Company began to construct the line from Haverthwaite in 1866, and it opened in 1869. It closed to passenger traffic in April 1967. However, closure was relatively brief, as the line between Haverthwaite and Lakeside station (where the trains meet the Lake Windermere ferries), was reopened in 1973 as a light heritage line. The line as it is now is some 3.2 Miles or 5.1Km long
