Watery Lane...

Watery Lane...
Continuing my theme on the 2nd English Civil War of August 1648, this is Watery Lane, Preston, Lancashire, England, where Marmaduke Hussey's troops were ambushed by Cromwell's Parliamentarian Army. You can imagine the scene...

Falling Thru The Lens
Falling Thru The Len…
I can imagine it ... but I have to admit that I'd rather just look at this and see straightforwardness with mystery on all sides :-) I know where I'm meant to go, yet there's so much ambiguity, so much to raise doubt. And so beautiful, too!

As always, Jacki, you raise an interesting point. When I was researching this book, I discovered there isn't any wildlife on the former battlefield at Culloden in Scotland, UK. The same goes for Auschwitz. Sadly, this is the case here, where the natural world appears to have recorded 'Death's Memory'. More than anything, this has highlighted my belief that, as a species - not everyone of course - humans have lost many of their instincts. Thank you for your lovely comments, which are very much appreciated. :-)

Wow, that is remarkable - like a metaphor made manifest, on several levels at once. Thank you for telling me about that.
