Lovely B&W here, Gary. The quality of the larger format camera really stands out.

It certainly brings out the detail, Dave. I hoped that would bring something to this project, so I am glad you like it. Thank you. :-)

That's just magic, the trees almost look like they were painted. Stunning

The light was magical, in so many ways. I have no idea who planted these - it's part of a wooded area in the middle of nowhere - but they had vision. Thank you very much. :-)

o0o there must be deer and foxes and rabbits ... and can
definitely hear the birds singing ... I do like very much the
black and white appearance and it takes nothing away
from the beauty shown this way ... wonderful trees o0o

Thank you so much, Bev. Monochrome leaves so much to the imagination, don't you think? :-)

I love the slight softness but yet it so sharp. How did you do that? :-)
Gary Liggett has replied to Tricia V...
Thank you very much, Tricia. This was shot on 5" x 4" film, so the resolution is very high, thus the apparent sharpness. The softness you are detecting is due to the way I controlled the depth of field, so the grasses in the foreground were slightly un-sharp. I wanted the softness of their appearance to contrast the strength and solidity of the trees. Nothing clever, I just exercised a bit of control.

Thank You for your answer. I have been shooting 4x5 for a year now have not really played with DOF much. I think its time. :-) You inspired me.

Yet another masterful B. & W. The trees' shapes and the grasses' texture really show up so well in monchrome.

I suspect the effect of rating or shooting at high ISO would also be dependent on the type of developer and the size of the enlargement. I shot some HP5+ and developed it in RO9 recently. The grain was like golf balls!

I have been using low ISO film and X-Tol with this series to keep grain to a minimum. However, this series can go anywhere, from a creative viewpoint, so I might try your suggestion on a misty day. Grain could work well in that situation, don't you think?

Thanks very much for your lovely comments, Eric.
