The little guy has priority

The little guy has priority
When a little (relatively) airliner like the Swiss Airbus A320 seen here and much larger widebodies (Boeing 747/ 777 or Airbus A340/ 380) are scheduled to take off at the same time, the smaller planes typically get priority. The reason is both for aviation safety and efficiency. The powerful engine thrust of widebody jumbo jets can create destabilizing wake turbulence that can cause a smaller jet right behind to lose control during the takeoff roll. As a result, if the Malaysia A380 takes off first, more time must lapse to allow the wake turbulence to dissipate before the Swiss A320 can take off, whereas if the Swiss A320 takes off first, the A380 doesn't need extra wait time because the small A320's engine thrust would not affect the A380.
