Italianate villa in Kingston

Italianate villa in Kingston
I was in Kingston (Ontario Canada) recently and visited the Bellevue House National Historic Site.

Bellevue House dates from 1840 and was constructed for Charles Hales, a wealthy Kingston merchant who profited greatly from the prosperous decade of the 1830s. It is one of the first and finest examples of Italianate Villa architecture in Canada. Sir John A. Macdonal lived in this house with his wife Isabella Clark and their son John Alexander from 1848 to 1849. Sir John A. Macdonald became Canada's first Prime Minister in 1867. Canada is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.

John FitzGerald has particularly liked this photo
