Election in Canada: Advance voting

Election in Canada: Advance voting
Canada goes to the polls on Monday 2015-10-19. There is a good chance that the current Conservative government would be voted out next week. People who want to vote early, or otherwise cannot go to the polls on October 19 can go to advance polls on October 9, 10, 11 and 12.

According to Elections Canada, over 3.6-million Canadians voted during advance polls already, which is a 71% jump from the previous federal election, this is a sign that voters are much more engaged this time around to cast their votes.

Well, it really doesn't matter if you are f*cked by the right or by the left....

Sadly, Chris, you're very correct. Still, I can't sit still not go to vote. I hate my current government and prime minister. Unfortunately, politicians aren't what they used to be. Most of them are so corrupt and selfish, holding a public office is not about serving the citizens anymore.

So why do we elect 'em, eh? Perhaps politicians are corrupt and selfish because the people who elect them are corrupt and selfish (present company excepted, of course -- seriously). The damage that has been done in this country over the last 25 years by people who can't see further than their tax bill has been profound.

I should add that I'm lucky enough to have a non-corrupt non-selfish MP, who is unassailable in her riding as a result.

And I think it was jet lag got me preaching. So let's be generous with the offering. The burly gentlemen at the back will now pass among you with the collection plates, pausing only to hold you upside down by the ankles and shake the Miracle Harvest out of your pockets! Hallelujah!

Please note: The Miracle Harvest may include car keys. The ministry takes no responsibility for injuries or embarrassment sustained, since this was obviously ordained by God. If you want to stay healthy, use these moments to cleanse your mind of si-yen!, including the love of money.

Good question, John. Citizens collectively are as much to blame as the politicians; and our much-indebted society is as much to blame as bankers. People these days also not pay attention to news and politics, allowing politicians to do whatever they want. Democracy only works when the people pay attention and have a long-term view, particularly with an ageing population, slowing economic growth and geopolitical and environmental crises.
