Vintage DAF car
Following our visit to the Philips Museum, Olga & Peter and Arthur drove me to the DAF Museum. All three of us are bus and truck buffs : )

For those who didn't know, DAF (originally Van Doorne's Aanhangwagen Fabriek - "Van Doorne's Trailer-wagon Fabrication") is a major truck/ lorry bus builder based in the Netherlands. Since 1996, DAF has been a subsidiary of American truck builder PACCAR. DAF used to build small cars also, but sold its car business to Volvo in 1975.

I remember these vehicles well Swire, together with the name DAF Daffodil on the back of some models, which always appeared a strange choice apart from the fact it was built in the Netherlands. I was also intrigued by the continuously variable transmission in the vehicles.

Back when cars were simple, small and utilitarian! Now car have computers and wifi and their electronics breaks down easily and there is nothing one can do to fix it.
