Private area of Teylers Museum
The upper level of Teylers Museum is not open to the public. This is the staircase leading to the upper floor.

Teylers Museum is the first major public museum to be established in the Netherlands. Linen and silk merchant and banker Pieter Teylers van der Hulst stipulated that his estate to be used to create a museum of science and fine art upon his death, which happened in 1778. So in 1779, construction on the first part of the Teylers Museum began.
