While most museums showcase antiquities, they usually are furnished in modern settings, with new display cases, modern lights, and contemporary walls and flooring etc.

Teylers Museum is different. Being here is like travelling back at least 100 years. The museum is unique in the sense that its display, décor, and exhibits have hardly changed since the 19th century by design. This series of rooms displays things of natural science, physics, and geology.

I knew very little about the Teylers Museum beforehand, and it turned out to be a huge pleasant surprise to me.

Teylers Museum is the first major public museum to be established in the Netherlands. Linen and silk merchant and banker Pieter Teylers van der Hulst stipulated that his estate to be used to create a museum of science and fine art upon his death, which happened in 1778. So in 1779, construction on the first part of the Teylers Museum began.

Allright, I'm surprised by the beauty inside. Wouldn't excpect that seeing the building from the outside....

Indeed I was very surprised also. It's very nice to be inside, even though I don't understand how the 19th century machines worked or what they are for.
