Courts after courts after courts

Courts after courts after courts
Needless to say, the Emperor lived in the most impressive, central and largest court within the Forbidden City, lessor royals lived in smaller courts like this one, still very large and (un)comfortable I'm sure.

The Forbidden City, the former Imperial Palace of China, is the largest surviving royal palace in the world, covering an area of 720,000 square meters (178 acres). The 980 buildings of the Forbidden City have a combined floorspace of 1,614,600 feet² (150,001 m²) and contain roughly 9,000 rooms.

When my brother's family visited us a few weeks ago, we went to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), which was hosting a special exhibition from Beijing's Forbidden City (the Imperial Palace of China). The exhibition itself forbids photography (why do you think it's called Forbidden City?), but not for this 1/350th scale-model of the entire palace itself

I was lucky enough to have visited the palace in 1986 in person, but I actually didn't realise how massive the palace is, until I see this scale-model. I do remember we walked and walked all day and didn't finish seeing all the buildings, courts, gardens, temples, and furnishings of the palace.
