Woodmere Police Cruiser

Woodmere Police Cruiser
As I said before, suburban Americans don't walk. They fear not being in the safety of their cars, plus the suburbs aren't designed to be "walked." As such, I was the very only person walking on Chagrin Blvd. from the hotel to the shopping centre, and with a big-ass camera on my shoulder too.

I don't know if that made me very conspicuous, for the police car cruised and cruised up and down Chagrin Blvd., passing me many times. I don't know if the police was just bored, or was she monitoring this suspicious tourist walking down the street!

Unlike other countries in the world, the Americans generally detest and distrust big governments, or being "controlled" by a remote level of government. Americans prefer their political representatives who are very "close-by", so they can manage things on a very local level. This system has resulted in very small and very local municipalities, like this Village of Woodmere, a Cleveland suburb. According to Wikipedia, Woodmere only has 800 residents. How such a tiny tax base can support its own police force and fire department is very beyond me.
