Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 137

Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 137
Terra cotta (?) decoration on a building between the hotel and Court Square station.

It now serves as the Sheet Metal Workers' Union Local 137 office.

21 - 42 44th Drive, Long Island City, Queens (New York City). Again, such a numbering system means that it's No. 42 on 44th Drive where it meets 21st Street.

Street names in Queens are very confusing to outsiders because in Manhattan, all avenues go north and south (1st, 5th, Park, Lexington etc.) where streets go east and west (West 47th Street, East 14th Street etc.)

But in Queens, the avenues go east and west and the streets go north and south (both are opposite of Manhattan), plus in Manhattan there would be only one First Avenue, one Fifth Avenue and one 23rd Steet and one 96th Street, but in Queens, there are 44th Road, 44th Drive, and 44th Avenue, all parallel to each other!

Having all of those 44ths would be a bit confusing at first, that's for sure!
