A big special thank-you to my Irish friend Neill, whom I met in May 2013 during my trip to Ireland, for sending me these banking ephemera. As the saying goes, someone's junk is another's treasure!

The history of TSB goes back to the savings bank movement of the early 1810s. By 1983, the hundreds of small savings banks in Great Britain (including Northern Ireland) had amalgamated into TSB England & Wales, TSB Scotland, TSB Northern Ireland and TSB Channel Islands.

Between 1989 and 1990, TSB England & Wales, TSB Scotland and TSB Northern Ireland joined forces and was de-mutualised to become TSB Bank plc.

But in 1991, Allied Irish Banks (AIB) bought TSB Bank's Northern Irish operations and renamed it First Trust Bank.
