My lucky day!

My lucky day!
We celebrate Chinese/ Lunar New Year very simply. In Canada there really isn't that much to do, and the atmosphere is very subdue to compared to Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Malaysia or Singapore.

Giving lucky money to children is universal in the Chinese culture on Lunar New Year (in lieu of presents). Depending on which part of China one is in, the way the money is passed to the children seems different. In Southern China, it's given to the children on New Year's day, in Central and Northern China, the money is tucked under the pillow on New Year's eve, so that when the child wakes up, (s)he would find the money mysteriously under the pillow.
