Squirrel's Elevated Highway

Squirrel's Elevated Highway
Little squirrels in Toronto often runs along the elevated electric cable between houses and trees. They do so to avoid predators like cats and dogs on the ground. They are usually extremely agile on the cable and can turn around and go the other way if needed. Once though, I did see a squirrel falling down from the cable some 18 ft (6 metre) to the ground. I screamed out loud and my friends and I rushed over to check on the little creature. I think on that occasion the poor squirrel might have broken his hind legs or hip : ( But as soon as he saw us coming, the squirrel got scared and climbed up a tree even though his hind legs were clearly paralysed. : ((

Squirrels are small creatures common in Europe and North America. In a survey, squirrels are found to be one of the things tourists and new immigrants from Asia to Canada are most impressed or excited about.

A new friend of mine from Australia studying here in Toronto was very excited the first time he saw a squirrel.
