Wasp Nest

Wasp Nest
To be honest I had no clue about wasps. I thought their nest would be similar to a honeybee nest made of beewax. When the wasp nest started to dis-integrate, pieces of paper-like fibre fell off. I didn't know their nest is made of fibre materials at all.

Silly me!

During the summer last year, I noticed that a swamp of wasps has taken residence near the roof of our home. It's very high up and every day, the wasps busily went in and out of their home. They didn't bother us much on the gound level, so I left them alone.

Calling an exterminator expert to go up there would cost several hundred dollars minimum. I'm too cheap for that!

The wasps died or left during the cold Canadian winter, so I decided to tackle the abandoned nest last week.

Our ladder is not long enogh, but thankfully a storm brought down a very long and light tree branch, which together was barely enough to knock down the wasp nest.
