The White Tower (built 1097)

The White Tower (built 1097)
The White Tower is the first citadel built at the Tower of London. Completed in 1097 for William the Conqueror, it's one of the finest Norman fortresses in Europe and nowadays houses the Royal Armouries, with about 40,000 pieces of arrms and amour (armor), including both sporting one and weapons of warfare such as pistols, crossbows, hunting spears, swords, guns, cannons and mortars.

At 90 feet high, the White Tower was the tallest building in London for centuries!
