The Ward of (not so) Cheap

The Ward of (not so) Cheap
One would hardly imagine the real estate to be cheap in an area dominated by the world's most powerful banks!

National Australia Group's offices at 91 Gresham Street, Cheapside, London.

Cheapside is the place much snickered by the Bingley sisters and Mr. Darcy in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, written in early 1800s. At that time, Cheapside was a decidedly undesirable place to live for people in high society.

Today, NAB owns Yorkshire Bank in England and Clydesdale Bank in Scotland.
